About Sally

Singer | Singing Teacher | Vocal Specialist

Sally is a singer, vocal coach and educator with over 27 years of experience in the music industry, working across opera, concert stage, recording studios and broadcast media. Her career has taken her from performing opera and oratorio to musical theatre and jazz, alongside many years supporting others as a singing teacher, vocal consultant, animateur and choral leader. She has also worked with the BBC in television and as a signed Sony artist.

At the heart of Sally’s work is her passion for helping people find and trust their voice. From her private studio in South Manchester, she works with a wide range of singers and performers—from classical and musical theatre singers to actors and contemporary artists—creating a supportive and encouraging space where each voice can develop with confidence.

She has a particular interest in the ‘changing voice’, working with both male and female singers through periods of transition, including adolescence, menopause and gender transition. Her approach is thoughtful, informed and highly individual, helping each client understand their voice and use it in a healthy, sustainable way.

Sally trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she performed leading roles in major productions. She holds a BMus (Hons) and PPRNCM (Professional Performance), and was awarded both the Elizabeth Harwood Prize and the Eva Turner Award.

Alongside teaching, Sally has enjoyed a rich performing career, working with companies including Glyndebourne Opera, Scottish Opera and Grange Park Opera. She has recorded with the BBC, sung on BBC Radio 3 and performed at the BBC Proms, as well as appearing with the Hallé Orchestra at venues such as the Bridgewater Hall, The Lowry and the Royal Albert Hall.

She is also a trained animateur and has worked on education and outreach projects with Opera North, conducting youth choirs including the BBC Children in Need Choir in Manchester. She currently teaches at Mountview Manchester, Shockout, Manchester High School for Girls and Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, and previously taught at the University of Manchester for 12 years.

Sally is deeply committed to vocal health and lifelong learning. She has completed extensive professional development with organisations such as AOTOS and Vocal Process, including the Advanced Retreat programme.

She is incredibly proud of her students, many of whom go on to train at leading institutions including the RNCM, Royal Academy of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire, King’s College London, Italia Conti, Bird College and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
