Sally has over 23 years experience as a vocal teacher and runs a private studio in South Manchester working with classical, musical theatre and choral singers to actors, popular and rock singers.
Sally trained classically at the Royal Northern College of Music where she performed lead roles in many of their large scale productions and has a BMUS(Hons) and a PPRNCM (Professional Performance), she was also awarded the Elizabeth Harwood and Eva Turner Award.
Sally is a trained Animateur having worked on education outreach projects with Opera North and conducted young choirs including the Children in Need BBC Manchester Choir. She is a member of the Association Of Teachers Of Singing and teaches voice at Manchester University.
Her professional career includes performing with Glyndebourne Opera, Scottish Opera and Grange Park Opera, she has recorded with the BBC and sung on BBC Radio 3 and at the BBC proms. She has performed with the Halle and has sung at venues such as the Bridgewater Hall, Bristol Hippodrome, Lowry, Salford Keys, Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh and The Royal Albert Hall.
Sally is passionate about understanding the vocal mechanism and how to maintain a healthy voice and has completed a range of training courses including Gillyanne Keyes (Author of ‘Singing and the Actor’) and Jeremy Fisher (Joint Author of ‘This is a Voice’) for Vocal Process. She recently completed ‘Inside the Singing Voice’ and the ‘Advanced Retreat’ CPD course.
Sally is immensely proud of all her students with many entering establishments such as the RNCM, Kings College and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. This year her students have performed with Opera North and with the Kings Singers.
